More than 100 countries are expected to attend Expo Zaragoza 2008 (Spain)  which will take place from 14th June to 14th September.  Expo Zaragoza 2008 will focus on the role of water as a basic element for human development, a key factor in the distribution and mobility of the species and the need of its sustainable governance.

There is a global water crisis today. But this problem is not only caused by the shortage of it but because we don’t know how to manage it efficiently. Taking care of our water resources and managing them in an efficient, fair and intelligent way, are two of the greatest challenges facing mankind today.

A number of social groups and movements will contribute to Expo Zaragoza 2008 through the Citizens’ Initiative Pavilion.  Red Cross, Caritas, Oxfam International, Manos Unidas, Action Aid International and the Ecology and Development Foundation are among the non-governmental organisations contributing, with an allocated space to design and carry out their own programmes on Water and Sustainable Development.

This exposition seeks to become a meeting of different cultures, a celebration of the achieved advances, a party for our mind and senses and an optimistic view of a sustainable world.
